Jeff Van Den Bussche holds a Master of Arts degree in Couples and Family Therapy from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. Jeff is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Illinois. His primary focus is individual therapy with adults, as well as couples and family treatment. He completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education from Western Michigan Univeristy in Kalamazoo before spending four years working with children in residential treatment and foster case management, including Lakeside Academy in Kalamazoo and Jewish Child and Family Services in Chicago. During graduate school, he worked at the university’s Wellness Center, the Traumatic Brain Injury Program at El Valor, and interned at the Schaumburg Family Counseling Center, in Schaumburg, Illinois. He then spent nearly four years in group private practice in Chicago working with adult couples and individuals.
Jeff specializes in working with clients facing issues with anxiety, depression, interpersonal relations, family conflict, grief and loss, and life transition. His therapeutic approach includes interpersonal therapy which focuses on relationships, with a strong emphasis on cognitive-behavioral techniques, as well as strategic, solution-focused, and emotion focused approaches. In addition, Jeff provides counseling regarding adult identity development, including masculine identity and managing male expressions of emotions.
